Parrikar seeks votes for STDF in Taleigao VP polls

PANAJI- The Leader of the Opposition, Mr Manohar Parrikar on Thursday said that the voters of Taleigao have got a golden opportunity to step into a real democratic framework, by voting Save Taleigao Democratic Front to power in the Taleigao village panchayat, during the March 22 panchayat election.
The Save Taleigao Democratic Front is supported by the Bharatiya Janata Party and the panel is floated by Mr Agnelo Silveira. Mr Xavier Almeida is the convenor of the panel.
Addressing a press conference, in the presence of Mr Parrikar, on Thursday evening, Mr Silveira said that health and garbage disposal are the two main issues, which would be solved by the STDF, if it comes to power at the Taleigao village panchayat.
Speaking further, Mr Silveira said that the Taleigao village panchayat has no premises of its own and constructing a panchayat ghar would also be a priority of his panel. “In addition, a health centre and a post office would be set up in Taleigao, in case of STDF’s victory,” he pointed out.
Stating that the panel would re-start the disciplined development of Taleigao, Mr Silveira informed that no haphazard planning will be carried out in the village and planning will be done within the limits of the Regional Plan 2021 and the village development plan. “The STDF would take all major decisions at the Gram Sabha,” he assured, further appealing to the voters not to sell their votes.
It was also mentioned that the Leader of the Opposition would help the STDF to establish a clean and people-friendly village panchayat, in Taleigao.
