CEO accused of bypassing governing council

PANAJI- The report of the 39th International Film Festival of India as prepared by the CEO of the Entertainment Society of Goa, Mr Manoj Srivastava seems to have stirred a hornet's nest, with the Governing Council of the ESG which is the supreme body of the Society objecting that the excerpts from the report were released to the media without being presented before the Council.

Police need better equipment; changed mindsets

PANAJI- Post 26/11, the state police as well as the state administration have woken up from their deep slumber to the gravity of a terrorist threat that Goa faces. The police force has been sandbagged by the fact that they may be facing well-trained and motivated terrorists equipped with the latest technology and AK-47s and AK-56s as compared to their ceremonial 303s of World War II or worse still just with lathis!

Elvis removed as Tourism director

PANAJI- Differences over functioning with the Tourism Minister, Mr Francisco Xavier Pacheco, cost the director of Tourism, Mr Elvis Gomes, his chair as the government decided to shift him from the post. The order, however, states that the transfer has been effected in 'public interest'.
