Govt firm on development in state, says Vishwajeet

PANAJI - The Minister for Health, Mr Vishwajeet Rane said that the state government is making all efforts to make available adequate infrastructure facilities to the people and to achieve development of the villages.
Mr Vishwajeet was speaking at a function where the foundation stone was laid for a Lift Irrigation Scheme at Paikul and the inauguration of a footbridge cum bandhara project at Daudkiwada, Velus, in Sattari taluka on Tuesday.
The foot bridge has been constructed at a cost of Rs 80 lakh across the river Velus. The work also involves a construction of 2.5 metre high open type bandhara to store 40,000 cusec of water for the use of farmers.
The footbridge connects villages of Velus and Satode and has reduced the distance between the two villages by 5 km.
The Lift Irrigation project at Paikul in Guleli Sattari will be constructed at a cost of Rs 1.50 crore on the bank of Ragada river. After its completion it will benefit around 35 families and irrigate about 30 ha of land.
Mr Vishwajeet also said that a residential complex is proposed to be constructed at Valpoi under the Department of Craftsman and Training.
“The complex will have facilities to organise training courses for women, which will help them generate additional income,” he said and added that it will benefit the women from Valpoi and its surrounding areas.
Mr Vishwajeet informed that the 108 Ambulance Service introduced by the government will now be equipped with Nova-7 injection soon which will help to avoid internal bleeding caused due to accidents and other major injuries.
“After the introduction of this unique facility Goa will become the first state in the country to launch this medical facility which will cater to the needs of common man,” he added.
Ms Guljar Bi Khan, chairperson of VMC, Mr Umesh Gulelkar, vice- chairman of VMC, Mr Ashok Parab, ex-MLA, Mr Ladu Harvalkar, ZP Member, Mr Ramdas Shirodkar, Mr Prakash Gawas, both councilors, Mr Prakash Gaonkar, sarpanch of Thane village panchayat, Mr Sandeep Nadkarni, chief engineer, Mr Badami, executive engineer were present on the occasion.
Mr Filip Mascarenhas, sarpanch of Guleli, Mr Rohidas Gaonkar, Mr Dashrath Naik, both panchayat members were present at Paikul.
