PANAJI—An amount of Rs 2,24,305 was spent on the refreshments by the 13 cabinet ministers including the Chief Minister from April to November 2008.
The written information provided to the House by the Chief Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat stated that the Chief Minister himself spent Rs 24,222 on refreshments, while the Home Minister, Mr Ravi Naik and the then Finance/IT Minister, Mr Dayanand Narvekar spent Rs 25,965 and Rs 1,903 on the same, respectively.
The highest amount spent on refreshments during the period was by the Minister for Panchayat Raj and RDA, Mr Manohar Azgaonkar, to the tune of Rs 36,996. The Minister for Public Works Department, Mr Churchill Alemao spent Rs 29,833, while the Minister for Tourism, Mr Francisco Pacheco spent Rs 23,356 on refreshments, respectively.
The Minister for Forests, Mr Filipe Neri Rodrigues (Rs 18,853), the Health Minister, Mr Vishwajeet Rane (Rs 16,348), the Revenue Minister, Mr Jose Philipe D’Souza (Rs 14,643), and the Education Minister, Mr Atanasio Monserrate (Rs 14,084) were other ministers who spent on refreshments. The Minister for Urban Development, Mr Joaquim Alemao (Rs 9,864), the Power Minister, Mr Aleixo Sequeira (Rs 6,007) and the Transport Minister, Mr Ramakrishna Dhavalikar (Rs 2,231) spent an amount below Rs 10,000 on refreshments.
The portfolio for Finance/IT was allotted to the Chief Minister, while the education portfolio went to Mr Atanasio Monserrate from August 2008.
