PANAJI - The managing committee of the Goa Judo Association (GJA) today unanimously decided to suspend Mr Gurudatta Bhakta as member and president of the association after following due procedures as per the constitution.
A press note jointly signed by Mr Sukhdeep de Souza, secretary general of GJA, Mr Kripesh Vengurlekar, treasurer and Mr Girish Pednekar, joint-secretary claimed that the executive meeting of the GJA was specially summoned to take action against Mr Bhakta for his persistent infringement of the association’s rules and also for his unconstitutional and undemocratic behaviour. The press note further alleged that Mr Bhakta’s behaviour was proving detrimental to the harmony of the state judo association.
The threesome also alleged that during Mr Bhakta’s earlier tenure as secretary there were financial irregularities seen in accounts for which no clarifications were presented and when sought for, no details on the financial aspects were revealed to the officer bearers and managing committee members.
He has been restrained from functioning as President and as member of the Goa Judo Association due to this suspension, the press note added.
The executive meeting of the managing committee was held at Sirsat Hall, Mapusa today at the scheduled timing of 3p.m.
Meanwhile, The ‘Navhind Times’ importunately tried to get in touch with Mr Bhakta to seek his reactions. However, Mr Bhakta did not answer his mobile despite repeated attempts.
