'Aprant' Programme in Aid of Mentally Challenged

MARGAO- Vaishnavi Salelkar the student of Nritya Sankul will give a solo Bharatnatyam recital on January 31, 2009 at Ravindra Bhavan at 5.30pm. The programme titled ‘Aprant’ is in aid of Gujarati Samaj School for ‘differently abled’, sources say.
Vaishnavi is a disciple of Sachika Almeida who in turn is a Senior disciple of Dr Sucheta Chapekar, she is a ninth class science student of Damodar Mahavidyalaya, Margao and has been learning dance for the past 10 years. She completed her Arangetram under the guidance of Sachika Almeida in the year 2004.
The Chief Minister Mr Digamber Kamat will be the Chief Guest for the programme. Dr Pramod Salgaocar, chairperson Goa State Commission for women, will be the guest of honour.
The Music ensemble on the occasion will consist of Sachika Almeida-Nattuvangam, Vocal-Poornima Parmeshwaran, Mridangam-Venkatesh, Flute-Sunil Awchat and Violin-Sharmila Murthy. Maitreye Mordekar will compere the programme.
People are expected to come in large numbers to support the programme being held for a noble cause.
