PANAJI- The government fulfilled one more of its commitment made to the people, especially of the South Goa district, by deciding to set up an independent administrative tribunal in South Goa to handle all the cases in that district.
The Chief Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat told The Navhind Times late Tuesday evening that through this decision he has fulfilled one more promise he made to the people of South Goa and that the decision would go a long way in getting the justice within the district.
The Chief Minister also said the state cabinet on Tuesday decided to frame a common syllabus for the pre-primary schools in the state and make their registration with the educational authorities compulsory.
Mr Kamat further said the government also decided to train all the pre-primary schoolteachers for providing uniform education at the pre-primary level. Besides, the cabinet approved a proposal to allow all the government-aided primary schools to appoint one peon and a clerk.
By another major decision, the cabinet decided to set up besides waiving off the loans of the beneficiaries of 94 cottage industries to the tune of Rs 15 lakh.
Meanwhile, all the Congress MLAs were issued whip to remain present and vote in favour of government bills at the meeting of the Congress legislature party meeting. The CLP also adopted a policy for floor co-ordination and how to tackle the opposition.
The issue of Baiguinim waste disposal site and the appointment of Mr Ramkrishna Dhavlikar, the Transport Minister, as chairman of Scheduled Tribe Development Corporation was also discussed at the CLP meet.
In another development, the Congress MLA from Calangute, Mr Agnelo Fernandes has urged the Chief Minister to declare the River Princess as state disaster at earliest failing, which he said that he would not co-operate with the government during the assembly session.
