PANAJI- The state would soon have a new Chief Secretary in place of Mr J P Singh, who has been promoted to the rank of additional secretary to the government of India and whose transfer orders are likely to be issued in near future.
The Chief Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat told The Navhind Times on Thursday evening that as per the process the ministry of home affairs, the cadre controlling authority, would intimate the state and send names of the qualifying officials of the Indian Administrative Service for the state to select the replacement in place of Mr Singh and that the state would give its nod after going through the list.
According to sources in the government, the present Chief Secretary was elevated to the post of additional secretary to the government of India some times back but his transfer orders have not been issued so far.
Meanwhile, Mr Singh told this paper that he has been following the case of his posting ever since he was elevated to the post of additional secretary to the central government but the same has not come through because of reasons best known to cadre controlling authority.
He further said that ever since his term in the state got over he himself has been trying to leave the state and that he was told to wait for some time as the elections to New Delhi assembly and other states were announced soon after his promotion.
The Chief Secretary went on to add that even his wife, who was staying with him here after he was posted to Goa, shifted to New Delhi way back in September last year.
“I will leave Goa the moment my transfer order is issued,” he said adding that he cannot leave the state until he is transferred.
