PANAJI- Two days after permitting the organizers of the Sunburn to hold the musical extravaganza at Candolim the state authorities on Sunday evening stopped the show midway as the organisers contravened the condition with regards to playing music beyond the prescribed norms.
The state authorities had issued the licence to the organisers laying down strict conditions including the norms with regards to sound. The whole event was being strictly monitored by state officials.
According to sources in the government, the officials present at the venue noted that the sound of music played by the performers was beyond the prescribed limit and accordingly the Goa State Pollution Control Board was asked to verify the same and it was noted that the music it exceeded the prescribed limit.
Accordingly the authorities on Sunday descended on the venue at around 8 p.m. and asked the organisers to stop the event that was underway as they had contravened the conditions laid in the licence.
A senior government official told The Navhind Times that as stipulated in the licence that any contravention of the conditions would amount to withdrawal and revocation of the licence and as such the licence for the event stands cancelled and that it would not be allowed to be held on Monday, which happens to be the last day of the three day event.
