Governor,CM extendX'mas greetings

PANAJI- Midnight masses, pealing of church bells, accompanied by fireworks ushered the Christmas celebrations in the state amidst unprecedented security arrangements throughout Goa. The Governor, Dr S S Sidhu extended warm greetings to the people of Goa on the occasion of Christmas. In his message, Dr Sidhu said, "On this auspicious and joyous occasion of Christmas, I convey my heartiest greetings and best wishes to the people of Goa."
We celebrate the birth of Lord Jesus Christ who gave us the invaluable and eternal messages of peace, tolerance, sacrifice, love and brotherhood. The birth of Christ is an appropriate occasion for all of us to rekindle the spirit of Christmas in our hearts, minds and souls to foster the noble values that the Lord passionately professed and practiced."
"In our country, we have inherited a glorious tradition of peaceful co-existence, social solidarity, mutual understanding and unity despite our multi-religious and multi-cultural society. We should celebrate all religious and spiritual occasions with camaraderie, bonhomie, gaiety and fervour and thus enhance peace and social harmony."
The Chief Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat has also extended his warm greetings to people of Goa.
The Chief Minister in his message said, “On behalf of my cabinet colleagues and on my own behalf I extend warm greetings and best wishes to the people of Goa particularly the Christian community on the occasion of Christmas Day being celebrated on December 25, 2008.”
He further said in his message, “Christmas is a major festival celebrated in Goa with active participation of all communities with great pomp and enthusiasm promoting a sense of unity and national integration. The festival bears significance commemorating the birth of Lord Jesus, a divine harbinger of love, peace among humankind. On this auspicious occasion let us rededicate ourselves to hold to the teachings of Lord Jesus to promote peace, love and make the world a happy place to live in.” The president of Goa Pradesh Congress Committee, Mr Subhash Shirodkar also greeted the Christian community on the occasion of Christmas.
