BICHOLIM—The state Bhartiya Janata Party president and North Goa MP, Mr Shripad Naik has urged the central government to take special security measures along Goa's coast looking at the possible threat from terrorists.
Mr Naik further claimed that the law and order situation in Goa is not quite up to the mark as there is lethargy in beefing up the security in the state.
"The Centre should give special attention and order the state government to take all the necessary measures in beefing up the security," he said adding, "Besides, there is need for extra police force to be deployed in view of the recent terrorist attack on starred hotels in Mumbai."
Speaking to ‘The Navhind Times’ on Sunday, Mr Naik said that the Maharashtra government has failed in providing protection to the people from the terrorists and taking the moral responsibility of this terrible incident the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Mr Vilasrao Deshmukh should resign immediatetly.
But it is very sad that the politicians are after power and maintain it at any cost, Mr Naik lamented.
The Centre should act tough against terrorists and against those who are responsible for creating terror in any part of the country, Mr Naik demanded.
As far as Goa is concerned the Chief Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat and the Home Minister, Mr Ravi Naik should act for taking necessary steps in beefing up the security in the state and should ask the central government to tighten the security along the coast, Mr Naik opined.
