Serious but Humorous story

Roseferns’s production of a ‘tiatr’ titled ‘Mhaka Zabab Zai’, deals with a tale of selfless love, selfish siblings and some women who cannot stop being evil.
Raul is a professor in a college, married to Patricia who is much younger to him. The couple have no children, as they were too busy raising Zubin, Raul’s younger brother, who was an infant when the parents died. In spite of objections from the family, Zubin goes ahead and marries Rhea, a woman who will not stop at anything, to get what she wants. When Zubin leaves to work in the Gulf, Rhea makes friends with Elton who is out to have a good time and make a fast buck. Patricia’s brother is also in the Gulf. Besides these there are three others, an assistant Sub Inspector named MP, a hawaldar and an effeminate character called Rambo. Roseferns, the writer - director weaves an engrossing tale around these characters and ends with a climax that impresses.
The play is an entertainer! The seriousness of the main story is beautifully offset by the humorous sequences. The script has some great dialogues and some of the scenes are executed in style. Don’t miss the cop chasing the thief and vice versa as well as the bomb explosion. Good performances come from Roshan as Patricia, Antonette as the scheming Rhea (although her dressing could be more sensible), Roseferns as Raul, Tari as Zubin and Victor as Elton. Sally is just wonderful as MP and so is Brian as the Hawaldar while Saby is perfect as Rambo. Peter adds to the comedy with his cameo.
The opening song by Victor and Roseferns has great lyrics. Please listen to it carefully; it is a song that should be recorded for posterity. There are other songs by Roshan, Peter, Victor and Tony de Ribandar. Special mention has to be made of the two beautiful solos by little Nathan. A compliment to Brian for his wonderful solo dressed as a bride. Good singing, lyrics and ex-pressions.
