PANAJI - The advocate of the mother of the German girl, Mr Aires Rodrigues on Thursday said that the girl is ready for medical examination and would depose before the police and also expressed apprehensions that more names are likely to be revealed by her on the occasion.Mr Rodrigues charged the PWD Minister, Mr Churchill Alemao, of allegedly threatening a reporter from a local channel and even warning him to shut down the channel during a meeting at Margao. He alleged that the Minister had hired some people to burn his effigy at Margao on Wednesday.
This afternoon, Mr Rodrigues said legal procedures were being initiated against the PWD Minister at whose behest the advertisement in a local daily was released on October 28, 2008.
Mr Rodrigues stated that since investigation of the case was in progress the publication of the advertisement was clear contempt of court. He said publication of the name of the mother of the German minor girl was in violation of the Goa Children’s Act, 2003.
He alleged that almost all the names published in the advertisement were bogus and whosoever had signed were misguided by the Minister who had kept them in the dark about the true facts of the case.
The mother of the German girl had nothing against those who signed the advertisement or against the outburst by some ladies and youth at Margao on Wednesday, who were obviously not aware of the fact of the case, he said.
Mr Rodrigues said the Minister owes a public apology to the mother of the minor girl for false allegations against her.
