PANAJI- The minor German girl underwent a medical examination on Sunday that was carried out by a panel of three doctors at around 11.40 a.m. The girl was accompanied by her mother.
The SP, Mr Bosco George refused to go into details and said that he would be submitting the documents before the court on November 4. The police would collect the report on Monday.
After the medical examination concluded, Mr Aires Rodrigues, the lawyer of the German researcher, claimed that a doctor has confirmed that the girl was “raped” as “the Goa Children’s Act says that even if the girl had consensual sex it amounts to rape as she is a minor”.
Responding to directives of the court, the girl had deposed before the judicial magistrate first class, Mapusa, on Saturday afternoon. Her statement was recorded in camera.
A panel of three doctors, including a lady doctor, examined the girl for almost two hours after the girl accompanied by her mother and the lawyer came to the forensic department of the Goa Medical College. They had to wait for an hour as the doctors had to consult the GMC dean.
The delay arose as a panel of doctors had to be constituted due to the nature of the case. Normally only one doctor conducts the examination, informed hospital sources.
The Education Minister, Mr Atanasio Monserrate, whose son Mr Rohit Monserrate has been accused of sexually abusing the German girl, in a press note released on Sunday said that his son would cooperate with the police now that the girl has deposed before the court and had her medical test done.
He said that his son is an adult and “should be responsible for his actions and must face the consequences of breaking the law, if he has done so”.
On Saturday, Mr Rohit Monserrate and Mr Joshua De Souza, the son of the Mapusa BJP MLA, Mr Francis De Souza, deposed before the police and gave their statements.
The Education Minister, however, warned that he would resist attempts to “selectively target only my family members for extraneous and political purposes” and stated that the police have already recorded statements of his son, his wife, Ms Jennifer Monserrate, the PWD Minister, Mr Churchill Alemao’s nephew, Mr Warren Alemao and Mr Joshua De Souza.
The 14-year-old German girl’s mother has accused Mr Rohit Monserrate of sexually abusing her daughter. Mr Warren Alemao is also facing the same accusation.
The girl broke her silence almost a month after her mother’s complaint about the sexual assault to the Calangute police station.
