PANAJI- The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), Goa will organise a two-day festival of spiritual awakening titled ‘Jagruti’ on January 8 and 9, at Azad Maidan, from 6.45 p.m to 9.30 p.m, on both days.
The event will witness spiritually enlightening discourses in English, which will be delivered by the renowned spiritual counsellor and head of the Bhakti Vedanta Cultural Academy, Mumbai, Sriman Gaur Gopal Das.
The first day of the spiritual event will have discourse on the theme, ‘Saints and Swindlers (How to distinguish?)’, while the second day will witness delivering of discourses on the topics, ‘E-mail to Knee Mail’ and ‘Why Bad Things happen to good people?’
Mr Shyamanand Prabhu, presently on the ISKCON temple president’s Board, addressing a press conference on Tuesday said that the event is expected to have a major impact on the people of Goa and will expose them to our own knowledge, embedded in the age-old traditions, during this dark hour.
The organising committee chairperson, Mr Suhan Karkal, informed that chanting of Kirtan and Prasadam would follow the
discourses.
Mr Ramesh Shetty of Goa ISKCON Congregation stated that a Radha-Krishna temple would come up at a Vedic village, on the 8 acres land at Borim, in Ponda taluka. The unique village will also have a meditation hall, organic farming, yoga training centre, facility for cow protection, a centre of research on Ayurvedic medicines and a vegetarian restaurant called ‘Govinda’s’.
