Good-byes are Heart-Touching

It’s a moment when not just students capture beautiful moments and memories with their cameras and mobile phones but the teachers too, with their digital cameras and cell phones, click photos of their students. Memories last a lifetime, and there are plenty in the making! It’s a time of Farewell parties, which no one likes to miss.
As the academic year of the X, XII and final year students is coming to an end, the juniors are busy planning the farewell parties before plunging themselves completely into preparations for the annual examinations.
“We want to throw a farewell party for the seniors who are graduating. We are thinking of having a very flashy theme,” says Sunil Kerkar, student of Dhempo College.
Farewell parties are held in various colleges and schools every year in the state to bid adieu to the outgoing students. Everyone enjoy the most at this parties with mixed emotions of celebration and separation. They all eat, drink and dance the party away. They exchange gifts with one another for remembrances.
There is a mixed feeling on this day. On one hand, there is happiness that we will be getting into new dreams with new studies and friends while on the other hand, there is sadness of separation. It is always a bittersweet experience.
“We were together for nearly six years and now its time to part ways. Its really sad,” says Shivani Kolapure, a X standard student from Altinho.
Farewell is a time for the students to have fun and frolic though with a little sadness, that they are soon going to go in different directions and are going to miss their buddies. They have to depart because they have promises to keep, pursue higher education, build careers and do it with conviction and sincerity. This sometimes is a sad experience for those students who hold a Farewell Party.
“This are often times a façade of emotional moments for those who will be left behind. It is part of life, the bottom line remains that in spite of every diverse situation, you will have to move on,” says Kunal Agarval, a graduate.
Memories of having made friends, the uncanny pranks played inside class rooms, the exchange of gossips at the cafeteria, victories and the failures, all amounting to a bond that was built to last a lifetime of friendship and admiration for each other. This is what we remember on this day.
Talking about the day of his farewell Savio Rodrigues, a student of engineering says, “It was a teary farewell that the students gave each other while trying to grapple with the fact that many of them would not share a class room the next year”.
And not to forget the Farewell speeches which are not a compulsion but a gesture of showing your feelings. Farewell tones go on from thank you notes, recounting experiences shared, first time meetings and also clarifying misunderstandings.
Whatever emotions are wrapped inside you, the farewell party makes sure to unravel. Consider it as a moment to pause and refresh before journeying into another chapter of your life.
