The people from three villages namely Arossim, Cansaulim and Cuelim had started the celebration with Novena’s from December 27 evening. The Novena procession was taken out from Cansaulim Church on December 26.
Devotees from all walks of life were seen standing in long queues since early morning on Tuesday to offer prayers and seek blessings of Our Lady of Remedious. The traditional stalls of ‘Khaje’ and others were seen in large numbers.
The deputy speaker and Cortalim MLA, Mr Mauvin Godinho, the deputy chairman of Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC), Mr Francisco Silveira among others participated in the prayers offered by the Bishop Barretto. The parking for two wheelers was made available especially on the top of the Remedious Hill. However, the four wheelers were not allowed to the Chapel point, which mainly sorted out the problem of traffic congestion. KTC mini buses and private buses were plying from the Chapel point to other destinations for the convenience of the devotees.
