PANAJI- Terming the recent statement by the Rajya Sabha MP, Mr Shantaram Naik about the Manohar Parrikar government having acted as a recruitment agent, who cheated the job seekers through formulation of the Pre Employment Training Scheme, as “Highly foolish, irresponsible and objectionable”, the Bharatiya Janata Party said that the people, during the BJP rule in the state observed that the government jobs could be sought and obtained without paying any bribe.
The senior BJP leader, Mr Laxmikant Parsenkar, strongly coming out against the statements made by Mr Naik as regards the PETS, maintained that the Congress government, which followed the BJP government, went to the extent of even changing the recruitment rules, so that the PETS trainees could lose their government jobs.
“It is when these trainees sought the intervention of the judiciary, the High Court came to their rescue and now the government, whenever it is advertising for posts of stenographers, drivers, primary teachers, LDCs and so on, is forced to print a clause stating that the appointment will be subject to the court decision,” he added.
Mr Parsekar further stated that the BJP government had aimed at training the Goan youth in government service, during their training period in two to three different departments, and then absorbing them in service. “The Congress government, on the other side, wanted to throw out PETS trainees,” he pointed out.
The senior BJP leader also stated that the Rajya Sabha MP should not make absurd statements such as the Congress government responsible for raising the salary of the PETS trainees from Rs 1,500 to Rs 4,500. “In fact, the Congress government refused to implement pay scale to these trainees, once they completed their training period, and made a grave injustice on them,” he pointed out.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson of the BJP legislature wing, Mr Damodar Naik said that the BJP, from day one, has always taken a stand against the Kalsa-Bhandura project of the Karnataka government, and stated that it would damage the state’s ecology. “It is ironical that the Congress government, which showed no interest in finding a solution to the problem and even refused to release a White Paper on the Mhadei issue, is now accusing the BJP of neglecting the same,” he pointed out.
