450-bedded GMC block to be inaugurated on R-Day

PANAJI- The 450-bedded ward block built at the Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim, at a cost of Rs 25 crore under Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd, will be inaugurated on Republic Day, January 26.
This was stated by the Minister for Health, Mr Vishwajeet Rane after acquainting himself with the progress of work of this five-storeyed block during his visit to GMC complex on
Tuesday.
The Health Secretary, Mr Anand Prakash, Dean of GMC, Dr V N Jindal, MD, GSIDC, Mr Santhanan and other GSIDC officials accompanied the Health Minister.
Apart from the Ward Block building which is an extension to the existing Surgical Ward and Paying ward building, three other projects including Yatri Niwas for the people accompanying the patients at GMC which has cost of Rs 5.5 crore, two-storeyed Goa Dental College Hostel constructed at a cost of Rs 6 crore to accommodate 183 students and the subway between the GMC and Dental Hospital having provision for 24 shops and constructed at a cost of Rs 7.5 crore, will also be inaugurated on the same day. All these projects are constructed under GSIDC.
The Health Minister directed the concerned authorities to complete the unfinished work before the date slated for inauguration.
He also instructed them to complete the work of landscaping at subway, putting netlon for windows at Dental Hostel before the forthcoming Republic Day.
He told the concerned authorities to see that adequate staff is provided at the new Ward Block to cater to needs of patients.
