Another evening to remember as part of the ‘Semana de Cultura Portuguesa’ was organised by Club Vasco da Gama, as they played host to an evening called ‘Festa Popular’ in the alley of Fontainhas, near St Sebastian Chapel on November 11, 2008. The ambience was soothing, covered with a blanket of stars on a dark November evening set in front of the St. Sebastian Chapel with sounds of music echoing within the otherwise quiet neighbourhood of Fontainhas.
Families and friends, gathered to enjoy the musical evening that had a variety entertainment programme, a bar to keep the spirits high and a well stocked food counter serving some nice Goan delicacies.
A host of artists performed at the evening, besides there were some couples who even chose to dance. Also present on the occasion was Consul General of Portugal in Goa Dr Paulo Neves Pocinho, Chairman of the Managing Committee, Semana de Cultura Portuguesa -Anil Counto, Chef Carlos Alberto Monteiro from Portugal were seen having a light evening with many other guests & members of the various clubs present on the occasion.
T he evening saw the Group from Portugal “Grupo Folclorico da Associacao de Professores do Planatio Mirandes” enthralling the crowd with their beautiful Portuguese Dances.
Also other solo artists like Manuella Lobo, Veamm Braganza mesmerized the crowd with their melodious tunes accompanied by Carlos Menezes on the Guitar, Ivo Guia de Furtado and his Violin added an absolute classical touch to the evening. Then there was Zezinho and his troupe that also performed for the lovely crowd gathered. Overall a pleasant evening as everyone gathered to enjoy the live music with Goan food and drink.
