This year the tourist flow started much in advance compared to last year, feels Mr Pravin Desai, a businessman. He said that if the trend continues, then this is going to be a very profitable season.
The tourist arrival, during this time last year was very low, but this year it is so much so that, some of them are finding it difficult get boarding, as shacks are still being built on private properties at Palolem.
Mr Agnelo Fernandes, chief officer, CMC, informed that licences for nearly 60 shacks in private properties have been issued by the Cancona Municipality, out of which nearly 35-40 shacks have been erected and the remaining are likely to be completed within a week.
Mr Dwsai said that last year the tourist season at Palolem picked up only after mid-December. Some residents, observing the spurt in the number of tourists, said that the government should deploy more lifeguards on the beaches.
