It is said that you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, but people still do. In the case of human beings, that ‘cover’ is in large your clothing and others use it to help gauge who you are.
“Clothes reflect your style as well as your personality to a great extent as people mostly judge you on the outfit you are wearing,” believes Ketki Prabhu, a student of fashion designing from Margao.
Contradicting her view her colleague Pradhnya Naik says that even though many people judge others by clothes first, clothing is just an interest – not an insight into your personality.
A person’s clothes are the best way to find out about their personality. You can quickly tell if a person is timid and quiet or noisy and attention seeking just by looking at what they are wearing. “Always wear something that says something about your character, mood, style of life etc as it can make you look even more attractive and elegant,” says Ms Shaikh, a fashion designer from Miramar.
In support of her Kavin Fernanades, a tailor from Porvorim says, “Before you choose your outfit for the day, think about how you want other people to see you and interpret your personality … your clothes say far more than you think”.
“I always choose the colour and clothes that suits my skin and my figure,” says Sandra Miranda, a college goer.
Talking about the fashion trends and personality Ms Shaikh said that you always try to stay in touch with the trends, but sometimes you don’t find that the clothes, which are in fashion, reflect your style. In this case, you shouldn’t go for it just because they are fashionable.
So always remember clothes should reflect the way you really are and not the way others want you to be. Don’t let prejudices prevent you from expressing your character and your true personality.
